Is it really Shalimar?

I'm still trying to figure out this scent. Guerlain have done so many different flankers of Shalimar, I'm sure the intent was to do a softer version of the original and I have to admit I may prefer Initial L'Eau.

The vanilla is still present, but is not as prominent. Instead the iris and citrus dominate. It's a more modern take on the classic.
it really lingers

It came to me pretending a floral lady, BUT then her sneaky side was revealed! She morphed into a headstrong spicy femme fatale which permeated my clothes. I carried the pepper, nutmeg, licorice scent for hours before she left. Don't be fooled..she is not a sweetheart girl-next-door type. This is a subtle sneaky vixen who once on, reveals herself even if you want to stay incognito. I love her but in short, small spritzes.
Powdery Floral

Beautiful, but brief, Citrus opening. However it quickly transforms to a Pink Floral Powder - these are the only words that come to mind when I smell this scent. I am able to pick out the Iris on occasion as well as the Jasmine. Though neither are a stand out note. The Hyacinth, Freesia and Rose seem to blend together making the Pink Floral Powder note I labelled this perfume with. The silage is very soft and the longevity is moderate on me - 3 hours or so. I find this a very elegant and feminine scent but fail to garner any 'sexy' feel from it. The smooth, warm dry down is my favorite part by far. I cant deny that its lovely....but it does not inspire me.
Pleasant/nice for work or daytime

I quite liked Parfum Initial, but was put off by the typical patchouli/fudge sweet notes in dry down. So this l'eau version was preferable to me. It has a creamy soapy edge, fresher as you'd expect, less cloying, definitely more floral.
I'd say it's ideal for work - not challenging, it's good quality, pretty though not flirty and it's refreshing without being sharp.

Lighter even than Parfum initial, sligthly more citrus, still lots of vanilla and absolutely gorgeous. Can't decide which I prefer.
Young, but mature Guerlain classic!

Word of advice: Do not just sniff the bottle and take off running! I've found that most Guerlain fragrances need skin and body warmth to properly develop. Soft, powdery iris; sublime vanilla; citrusy without being sharp. This scent is a touch fresher and lighter (while maintaining longevity or sillage) than Parfum Initial. I love them both and will wear Parfum Initial L'eau right now in this summer heat!

Shalimar Parfum Initial and it's L'eau - expect wonderful compliments -- they are both delish!!

This is a beautiful scent. Very flowery from the iris, but well rounded out with the vanilla and orange that I smell. It is light but also long-lasting at the same time.
