Shalimar
by Hope on May 18, 2017
The toilette isn't as good as the perfume, but it's still pretty, and I hate seeing this on clearance. I'm thinking maybe it's the end of it being here. But.... at least I can snag a few cheap samples before they're gone!

Classic

This is the quintessential warm vanilla winter perfume. Its very rich and heavy and only smells good on my skin on the coldest of days.

Not For This Guy
by Scott on Mar 6, 2015
On Basenotes and Fragrantica, forums are filled with posting of perfumes marketed towards women that smell good on men. Many vouch for Shalimar as being one of those perfumes. Being a classic perfume, I was a bit trepidatious about trying it. And rightfully so. On me, Shalimar smells like baby wipes for quite a long time; then it becomes a smokier baby wipe. My wife had harsher terms after sniffing my wrist. Shalimar is not for this guy.

Just as I remember
by Beth on Mar 1, 2015
Classic. I owned my first bottle in the '70's as a teenager. It was a gift from my mom. I loved it then but haven't worn it in years so I decided to sample it again for old time's sake. Lovely. Just lovely. Timeless and elegant. *happy sigh*

My Favorite! <3

I love this perfume - so incredibly unique and unlike anything I've ever smelled. The Guerlain vanilla is out of this world.

Comlpex

Smokey, almost sour citrus, and vanilla. This is a scent that brings so many conflicting emotions to the fore. For a woman of mystery.

Strong
by Bridgette on Jun 13, 2014
Very strong scent. It reminded me of a drug store perfume. It wasn't as nice as I thought it would be (neither was the other perfume by Michael Gerlain that I tried). Maybe my nose was having an off day..

Maybe, Maybe not
by Anita on Mar 18, 2014
Shalimar starts off smelling much too mature for me (I'm in my 30s) but quickly dries down to a powdery, slightly smoky vanilla. I don't get a lot of the depth of fragrance I hear other people experience but the scent I do get is unlike any other I have smelled. The longer I had it on the more I liked it. This one grows on you. This won't be a go to fragrance for me but it will have a place in my winter fragrance rotation.

One to try for yourself
by lls on Mar 3, 2014
I wanted to love this, but there's some mustiness that comes out on my skin that I just really dislike. A classic, but definitely not for everyone.

Queen of Perfume!
by Heather on Aug 10, 2013
PURE MAGIC! A long time favorite classic! Simply love the legendary love story behind it's superb creation! I recall someone once saying, "if velvet had a scent, it would be Shalimar" - so true and the best description of an absolute dream in a bottle!
A real woman wears this - gorgeous amber, leather, with a sexy, smoky, mature vanilla dry down. It lingers with fantastic silage (I've been told) and is quite addictive. I find myself longing for it sometimes when I've decided upon a different fragrance for the day. I will forever have this fragrance in my collection! There are times when every woman needs to feel like a magnificent queen!!
