Loud! at first, but dries down nicely
by Kaitlyn on Nov 18, 2018
First impression was WHOA! A lot too loud for my tastes, very musky.
But after a few minutes, it fades into a gentlr spicy scent which I like a lot!
Not for me
by Mary on Jul 13, 2018
I usually like oriental fragrances but something in Poison strongly disagrees with my chemistry. This scent is highly repulsive on me. Figures that projection and longevity would be immense.
by Sky on Jun 29, 2018
I am so happy I got this. Reviews made it seem so terrible. I can understand why this is a love it or hate it scent so for me it is love at first scent. It’s like a drug in the form of perfume, every time I use it I feel a high when I first put it on. Wow, no perfume made me feel like this, I have actually been looking for my signature scent for quite some time now and Poison is definitely the one. Love it.
by Heather on Jun 18, 2018
The scent is pretty spicy. I can definitely smell the cinnamon. It’s not too offensive but it’s just not for me.
Smells like my grandmother's perfume
by Jennifer on May 4, 2018
I mean, it's uncanny how similar it is. And maybe if my grandmother wasn't such a bitter old hag, I might be able to bring myself to like this. I guess on it's own, this perfume is average, safe, and conservative. Something you might wear to a job interview. But with a name like Poison, I was expecting something a little more youthful. 2 stars for the perfume itself, but it loses a star because for the 3 hours this scent was noticeable on me, all I could think of was my grandmother whining about how immigrants, POC, and LGBT are ruining this country. Not a pleasant experience.
Not particularly poisonous
by Leigh on Apr 27, 2018
I expect something named "Poison" to be edgy and dangerous. Instead, I got this strange sweet fruity floral -- it went on smelling of sweet grape soda, then mellowed to the scent of violets (which is kind of weird since there's no violet in it). Didn't last a long time on me, but it wasn't bad while it lasted. Best of all, there was no old-lady baby-powder dry-down that so many perfumes these days seem to end with! I'd wear this in summer to a brunch date or outdoor wedding.
by Michele on Feb 21, 2018
This is my overall favorite scent of all-time and always will be. I could bathe in it. I don't smell any cinnamon at all, like others say. I only smell sweetness. A spicy plum. Just like true love; I've loved it ever since the first day, ever since, even with years apart. It only takes a very little.
by annie on Jan 29, 2018
Poison is unique; the only perfume it kind of reminds me of is Alien. I love both of them but as a migraine sufferer, I have to be cautious of how I'm feeling before wearing it. For anyone not headache prone who loves interesting scents, go for it!
by Ruth Synnove on Jan 28, 2018
Expected more actually. I like to be blown away. Could see a confident woman wearing this. Very visible cinnamon.
by Hope on May 17, 2017
I simply do NOT like this fragrance. I may try it again in the future to see if I change my mind, but at present, Opium offends me. It is entirely too harsh on me, like it's picking a fight!
This is the only perfume I've ever bought which I returned to the store. Yes, I did that. I know it must make many people happy due to its continued production and sales, but I was not one of them.
by Amanda on Mar 14, 2017
Go easy on the sprayer and you should be fine. Its spicy and masculine but it won't get mistaken for men's cologne.
by Carol on Dec 13, 2016
The scent is VERY unique, I am not even sure how to describe it. Kind of sweet and floral I guess. It also lasts a VERY long time. Unfortunately, it was much too strong for me, it ended up giving me a headache.
did not like :/

I thought that this was the strangest smell, not for a girl.
Love That Smell
by Dianna on Nov 11, 2016
I remember this smell from my teen years and I loved it then and still do now. I love the spicy smells of perfume. I will always buy this perfume as long as I can find it.
CEO by Day, Dominatrix by Night
by Julie on Jul 18, 2016
Poison is sweet, spicy, and camphoraceous. It is powerful and beautiful and has rough edges that only highlight its beauty. If she were a person she would be a perfectly polished CEO with a side job as a dominatrix. Poison is a masterpiece.
I'm starting to really like it!
by MrsPress on Jun 25, 2016
I used to hate this when it was first introduced. All these years later I purchased a sample out of curiosity. When I first got the sample I thought (like I used to) it smells like urinal cake. I know, I know, it's gross, but it does smell like that at first. However, I let it mingle with my skin and it turns into something quite lovely and interesting. Not like today's ridiculously childish fruity florals, yet both fruity and floral. It's a little medicinal in a way that reminds me of Lolita Limpicka, though the two do not smell similar. I can hardly believe that I am actually considering wearing it in public! I wish I would have gotten a larger sample now, one that I could spray, I think it would smell even better! So if you think you hate it but have never tried wearing it for more than 10 minutes, give it another chance. You might like it.
by Amber on Jun 10, 2016
The spice is very strong in this perfume. I usually love spicy scents but this is way too much.
by Tatyana on Jun 9, 2016
Too strong, too loud, too much of everything.
Dark And Mysterious
by Gail on Feb 14, 2016
I always wanted a bottle of Poison, and finally treated myself to one. Dark and mysterious, and definitely one of a kind. The perfect evening scent. Love it.
by rhapsodii on Jan 11, 2016
I have loved this perfume since the moment I first smelled it in the 1980s. It is mysterious and provocative -- a sultry blend of jasmine, incense, and spice. Perfect for the evenings, I still sometimes wear it all day long just 'cuz.
by ASHLEY on Jan 11, 2016
In your face and way too strong. Do not like this at all.
Strong oriental floral
by Laura on Jul 12, 2015
Upon first whiff of this one, I'm not even "in like". I find there to be a strong, non-floral opening - perhaps the incense, cinnamon, or coriander up-front. Where was my tuberose, honey, plum, and berries??? It all comes together into a spicy, slightly sour scent. I was pleasantly surprised, however, by the drydown during which some kinder, gentler notes arrived and I could enjoy some pretty florals and a little vanilla. Beware white floral lovers of the universe - try before you buy!!!
by Catherine on Jun 20, 2015
I wore Poison when I was in my teen years and I remember smelling like Grape bubblegum, so I recently bought a sample to see if I still loved it but I was disappointed to find that it no longer smells the same on me. It has now become a floral scent on my skin and I've never been a fan of floral perfumes. It was worth a try though!
Powerhouse scent, indeed!
by Sharon on Mar 29, 2015
The opening has the same offputting and pungeant sweetness as black licorice & root beer. Luckily, it quickly settles into something a little more spicy and complex. There is almost a 'damp' or dewy quality, like the mustiness of old books or vintage clothing you'd find sitting untouched in the attic after decades - like stumbling on a lost treasure. It's so very '80s, and so very dark, alluring and bold - It could easily be the signature scent of one of Patrick Nagel's white-skinned, red-lipped & dark-haired '80s beauties.
Amazing perfume, but not for me!
by Lora on Mar 3, 2015
The first time I sampled this I could tell that it was a quality perfume. I could also tell that I would have a love / hate relationship with Poison.
It started out VERY strong. A heavy baby powder and musk smell that punched me right in the face, and almost put me off completely.
HOWEVER, I was pleasantly surprised. The scent faded into a soft, spicy, plum scent. JUST like smelling a plum scented incense stick.
This perfume lasts a long time ans gives off a complex, and mature scent, that is also subtly sweet and unique, but it just isn't for me. The powdery softness doesn't feel like "me".
Maybe in a few more years, I will be ready for this Posion.
One of a Kind!
by Nazia on Feb 25, 2015
This is really heady, and I can see how it could become overpowering if applied too heavily, but this is just sooo unique. I have never smelled anything else like it. I can't even really describe it, it's just intoxicating. Dior produced some real masterpieces in this line.
Once settles it's very nice
by Bridgette on Jun 13, 2014
It seemed a tad strong to me when I first put it on, but then it dries, and the scent is wonderful. Original, interesting, beautiful. I like it.
One of the GREATS!
by Heather on Aug 18, 2013
This is a extremely beautiful perfume; suave and sophisticated! it expresses me so well! I detect plum and cinnamon, and just in general, it is mysteriously dark and smoothly intoxicating! Ah, just right!!
It's the best scent in the world - sensual, seductive, unique, completely different than all other fragrances and has remained so. It is also a magnet for men. It's strong and sexy...simply a pleasure to wear. I haven't experienced another perfume that equals Christian Dior's Poison. I do love Dolce Vita also, but for a non-spicy floral, this one does the trick completely!
