Orchid Soleil Excellent
by L Michelle on Jul 5, 2017
I am a fan of Tom Ford fragrances but with this one that I received many compliments. In my opinion, the fragrance is definitely for a mature woman. My niece (18) tried it on and it seemed a bit much for her age.

More like Velvet Orchid than Black Orchid, which is to say, nice enough, but not that interesting. Decent, not great, longevity. Not heavy on the tuberose, but definitely a floral perfume. Worth trying if you're hunting for a "solar floral" with a little heft to it.

Delectable! It opens a little spicy and a little masculine, with cypress. I also smell orange, almost like orange blossom instead of the bitter orange that's listed. I think that's because the orange has a backdrop from the beginning of creamy white florals. It's a beautiful mix of tuberose and lily, so intertwined that you can't distinguish the two. There's also a coolness to this fragrance, that I think comes from the whipped cream. The cool, refreshing feel is unusual for a gourmand floral fragrance, but I love it. Perfect for summer!
Tuberose and Leather

Beautiful heady tuberose and leather, and somehow not too heavy for warm weather. Wonderful! One of my favorites.

I'm surprised at this one. Tom Ford is such a great house and one of my wife's favorite scents comes from them but this Orchid Soleil hits me all wrong. I loved Black Orchid but this seems lesser somehow. Not just different, lesser. Try a sample but don't blind buy.

I like this fragrance. Its a sweet floral that has a hint of pepper. It lasts fairly long on me but I'm not sure if it is my favorite. I prefer a little less floral. But I recommend it to people who prefer these kinds of scents.

I adore Tom Ford, figured I'd try this. Its beautiful and interesting. Easier to wear than Black Orchid. I love the pepper, the notes are all very even and not overwhelming.
Black Orchid's quirky little sister

It starts out peppery and something I couldn't identify at first, but after a couple sniffs I've identified as rubber and leather - think tire section and leather work gloves or new work boots. It's actually a scent I craved when I was pregnant, so this is actually a plus for me.
That fairly, quickly fades to a nice sweet creamy tuberose tempered by cypress and something slightly sharp but enough of a background note to be intriguing and highlight the green. The cypress leaves me wishing for more and by the end of the first hour it fades to a lovely sweet, delicious vanilla with an occasional bit of nuttiness. It is a pleasant scent, but does leave me missing the interest of the first few moments. It's lasting for 8+ hours, but in a subdued form.
After smelling Black Orchid I will say that a lot of the creamy floral notes are the same and I couldn't imagine investing in both. I love the work boot intro too much to not like this one best.
