Bas de Soie by Serge Lutens for women and men

This is a very chilly iris, pretty but cold, with a longevity of about four hours. Not as light and clean (and to me, boring) as Prada Infusion de Iris, but in a similar vein.

A very "purple" floral with a hint of spice. The Iris here is not very powdery, and is rather clean and bitter instead, tricking me into thinking this has "green" notes. Very bright, clean and fresh. Not synthetic at all to me, but more earthy or authentic. I tried this in the springtime with my windows wide open and the breeze blowing in. Had I not applied it to my skin myself, I could've easily mistaken the lingering scent for the actual florals wafting in from outside. Lovely!

This fragrance is definitely NOT unisex. It's a very strong floral which I can't wear. It smells nice though, but strong.! I can sort of pick up the green notes in the back round and whatever else is in there. Maybe woodsy notes.?

That is the image that this perfume evokes in my mind's eye. I strongly dislike it for the first hour or so.
After that, I wouldn't say it mellows, but it develops into something that is intriguing. It is much less offensive, but still very distant and cold. It is not welcoming at all, and it never becomes warm, but something on the verge of being pleasant emerges.
I have a personality which can carry off most fragrances, provided they agree with my chemistry &/or that I like them.
I'd have guessed that maybe I didn't have the chemistry, but reviews on fragrantica say more or less the same things I do (some hate Bas de Soie intensely), so I doubt it is any fault in my body's chemistry. Besides, it smells as I think it ought to―it tells much more of a story than 99% of any perfumes I have tried.
I think I simply lack the personality to wear this strange scent and do it justice.
