  1. Average

by Michael on Jun 27, 2016

    Kind of generic, but enjoyable.
  2. In the same vein as Volutes by Diptique...

by Betsy on Feb 24, 2016

    ...but not as good.
It is every bit as honey-sweet and tobacco-y, but with less amber, resins, and spices. Avant Garde smells more cheaply made, too.
Unfortunately juniper and lavender―which are thankfully lacking in Volutes―are present here, lending Avant Garde a sharp, masculine, edge.
Though this would not be at all inappropriate for a female, it seems like a masculine counterpart to the more feminine Volutes.
  3. People think this smells like La Nuit?

    by D on Jan 12, 2016

I heard this suggested as a cheaper alternative to La Nuit de L'Homme by YSL. I have no idea how people find these to be similar.

The honeycomb bulldozes all of the other notes in this, except maybe the tobacco. So the end result reminds me more of Pure Havane than anything else. It's not a bad fragrance, but not too great, even for the price.
  4. Amazing!

This has the wonderful smell of tobacco and honeycomb. It reminds one of toasted marshmallows and waffle cones with some beautiful sweet pipe tobacco. Get lots of complements with this one!
  5. No

by Adam on Dec 22, 2014

Got a steal on a full sized bottle. It was a good price for a reason. It is decent on a cold day as it kind of matches that vibe. I rarely get positive feedback for it. It just has sort of a cold and really sort of odd spice to it.

    Bottomline: just say no.
  6. Tabacco/Cardamon/Honey!!!

by Heather on Jul 15, 2014

Lanvin's Avant Garde is a very pleasant fragrance! It opens with a sweet-spiciness - notes of tobacco, which are not too harsh/bitter; lavender & cardamon are fairly loud throughout the wear.

Longevity is approx 4 hours & tobacco, cardamon, and honey-sweet notes linger close to the skin for another 4 or so hours. This perfume would be lovely for cold autumn or brisk winter days!

The bottle is pretty fun! The cap is especially great, because it is very small and light - making it very easy to use this perfume! I do think the blue stripe on the bottle throws your perception a little - maybe a light brown or deep yellow or orange would have been better stripe colors to describe the wonderful juice inside!

Very nice, Lanvin! Am always thrilled to sample Lanvin perfumes!
