4711 by Maurer & Wirtz for women and men

I can really only seen this being worn outside in high heat. It's very light and ctrusy, but it would suit you if youre looking for something light for the summer.

Smells like citrus wood polish. A good smell for furniture, not people.

The first time I came across this fragrance was while I was stationed in Germany in the AF. I wanted to get perfume and cologne made in Germany for different family members for Christmas. So while I was in a small department store off base, I got some help from a clerk. I asked her about what could get for my grandmother and I came across this fragrance and thought it would be real good for a older woman in her senior years. I thought it was just for women and older women at that, until a few years ago, a friend of mine said he liked it very much for himself but couldn't find it. So then I learned it was actually a unisex fragrance. I tried a mini-bottle of this stuff years ago and thought nothing of the smell of it. So when I saw this fragrance on this site I thought I wanted to try it again, and especially since it went on clearance before they stop selling it as samples. Either my perception of the smell of this changed or my body chemistry changed, as I really love the smell of it.! It reminds of the vintage suntan lotion "Coppertone" like that was worn back in the 60's and 70's. Although they still sell Coppertone suntan lotion today, I don't think it has that scent like it did back then. I actually have room air freshener that I love, that's called "Beach Breeze" which smells very close to this but a little sweeter.

I gave it a "3-Average" rating because it has low sillage but worse then that is it only lasts on my skin for a few minutes due to it being EDC. It's too bad "Maurer & Wirtz" couldn't make this scent into a EDP(eau de parfum) so it would be more stronger and longer lasting or at least a EDT. I think if they did they would have more people buying it that like the scent. So I'm disappointed in that. They could still keep "4711" as the original eau de cologne version. Ok, so for those people that were born after they stopped making Coppertone suntan lotion or oil with that original scent and wonder what it smells like. It's sort of sweet and also refreshing. It brings back memories and reminds me of being at the Gulf coast beaches in Florida in the 60's. I recommend this to anyone wanting to try something refreshing or to remind them of what I've experienced in the smell of this.
I may buy a small bottle of this but will need to re-apply often. :( or maybe have this scent replicated into a EDP.?

Introduced in 1792??!!! Talk about history. This is excellent for sheet spray. Truly office friendly. I put it on my hands and then whiffed my cupped hands and no joke. It lifted my mood. This sample is a good experience

This scent smells really just like cleaning products and citrus. I guess that can be used for both men and women but I didnt really care for it
