This, and other classic vetivers, have helped me find out how much I hate vetiver. In this sense, I recommend to buy a sample of this before you buy a full bottle of anything that has a strong vetiver note in it. Guerlain Vetiver is probably the best benchmark.

Described pretty aptly by my wife as a rich, old woman.
gentlemen's fragrance only
by ALESSANDRO on Jul 24, 2016
masculine, mature, complex, refined and very elegant all-season classic fragrance. Grassy and good balanced with fresh citruses, herbs and flowers, dry and warm tobacco, excellent longevity. "five stars" 40+ old suitable

For those who love woody-aromatic scents and especially the note of vetiver.
by PJ on Jun 7, 2016
It's a green woody fragrance with a hint of lemon, that can be worn practically year-round...also a mature & old-school scent but I like it more than dislike. Glad I bought the larger sample so I can sample it multiple times.
The Best Vetiver in the world
by Alicia on Mar 17, 2016
There are several good vetivers (ex, Anick Goutal's, F. Malle's) in the market, but there is no vetiver like Guerlain's. All perfumistas agree that this is the gold standard for vetiver fragrances, past, present, and future. This is perfection. In my opinion completely unisex. Its green, fresh, lively scent is pure delight. Effortlessly elegant. this is indeed the best.
I am female and LOVE this
by Lori on Jan 22, 2016
I am a woman and wear this. I absolutely love it. I would really consider this a unisex fragrance. It's fresh, sharp with a hint of sweetness. It is not flowery and also not a heavy scent. If you are a woman who thinks Angel has potential but you think it's heavy and overpowering, this fragrance might be for you. I started out trying Angel but it just wasn't right. Different, but too much for me. I read about a model, Elle McPherson, who wears this as her signature scent, I ordered a sample and it's going to be mine as well.
good fragrance for older men

I tried this before. It's very nice, but it does not suit me. Perhaps I'll check it out again when i get older.
Great! Kind of Herbal
by Nazia on Nov 13, 2015
I didn't know that this is what vetiver grass smells like! It starts off smelling a bit like mustard oil (doesn't smell like yellow mustard or dijon mustard, but like mustard flower) and then a bit like henna leaves. I get the tobacco, but the whole thing smells very South Asian spicy and herbal to me, as opposed to just plain tobacco. I love it! I think it's great, the drydown holds together - I really recommend this one.
Sophisticated and Older
by Danielle on Feb 2, 2015
I bought a sample of this for my husband, who's almost thirty now. I think the scent itself is very nice: rich, gentlemanly, and sophisticated - I'd agree with commenter Jeffrey; I also detect a clove note in the spiciness. I think it would make a fine gift. However, I don't think it's a smell for my husband. It smells more like a man in his prime forties who wouldn't be caught dead outside of a freshly pressed suit, complete with silk tie and gold watch. And as weird as it might sound, I think it even smells like a European man. For my handsome almost-thirty American mutt, it's not quite right, but neither of us are disappointed in having tried it!
A grassy/spicy fragrance.
by Jeffrey on Nov 17, 2014
This review for "Vetiver" is long over-due. What I mean by that is that I tried a sample of this several months ago and never gave a review due to my not knowing how to explain what it smells like let alone if I liked it or not. So in saying that, I gave this one some more thought and then bought another sample and tried it out again. This fragrance smells nice and ok, and it's not the same in scent like a few other "Vetiver" fragrances out there by other design houses. This one smells green and grassy sort of like green meadows and also this smells spicy like cloves but yet there's no clove notes in this, but there are other spice notes in this. This is one I could grow to like in time enough to maybe get a bottle.? I don't know for now. I think this one would be a nice fragrance to wear for Spring and maybe Summer.

Wonderful! Everything in this frag, smells niche to me, even tho it's not niche. It's a very minimalistic fragrance, which is good! It's understated, but definitely noticeable in a crowded room ... very nice!
