This may be a nice fragrance, but it's just too sweet for my taste, particularly for a male fragrance. It also has such a roundness to the smell, no freshness, just a lot of warmth and sugar. I happen to like fragrances that are warm and have some sweetness to them, but one was just excessive, even for me. A bit of freshness is needed to offset the "heat" of the sweet, spicy notes, and unfortunately this didn't have any, at least on my skin. But if you like gourmands, this may be for you.
Great gourmand scent
by Jarrod on Nov 3, 2016
Although a little to sweet and spicy for summer time I could deff see myself wearing it in the summer also. Great vanilla gourmand scent, second favorite givenchy scents behind play intense.
Ladies try this
by Anna on Oct 11, 2016
Pi is a creamy gourmand juice. It's lovely vanilla and soft almond. Although it is marketed towards men, women can definitely wear this.
Didn't care for

I did not really care for this fragrance.
Too Sweet for me
by RC on Aug 18, 2016
I love sweet fragrances but this one is just way too much for me. Too much sugar, vanilla and almond for my liking. Starts making me nauseous after awhile and I had to scrub it off. Powerful scent also that lasts. Givenchy Play Intense is better for me. It's amazing.

This stuff is legendary. One of my favorite smells ever, period. The perfect cold-weather, special occasion cologne (the bottle I have is the old formulation, but I don't think the new version is much different.) If you are looking for the perfect vanilla-based scent, look no further!
Not too shabby.
by Nick on Mar 30, 2016
I was pleasantly surprised with this one. Really warm and sweet scent, but not nauseatingly sweet. I was really enjoying it until the curse of my sensitive nose came around and I started getting a bit of a headache from it even though I still like the smell. Will try it again lightly a few times to make my final decision. Really enjoyed this frag, though. A nice change.

This is my special occasion signature scent. If I want to stand out and smell well for something special I wear this. I have gotten an "oh my God that smells good!" Compliment for this one a few times and it as strong as it is people seem to think it is pleasant. I love the sugary sweetness in this. I usually hate sugary smells but it just works somehow with this fragrance. Its drys down to such a deep sweet scent with a touch of vanilla that is just so inviting. Try this fragrance. There is 90% chance you will like this.

A guy I work with wears this cologne and it is a very powerful fragrance. He insists its one spray and it lasts all day!! It's strong but pleasant
I like Pie!
by Hope on Oct 21, 2015
Pi, that is. ;)
I would recommend giving this a try, if for no other reason but that it is different.
It's a very interesting fragrance and has captured my attention. I don't prefer sweet, especially on men, and I don't tend to think vanilla is sexy on men. But this one has me reconsidering.
I thought it was intriguing at first spray. My first thought was this is something I'd wear, but that I wouldn't like to smell it on a man. Point of reference, I like more masculine fragrances in general, even for myself.
But I kept thinking about Pi. I reapplied trying to figure out what the deal was. I started considering, "Hmm, maybe I would like to smell this on a man!"
Finally, it hit me!
An ex boyfriend came to mind--one I really liked.
He always wore the sexiest colognes and wore them heavy enough to be smelled from several inches away... enticing me to come closer. It always worked. I'm convinced that his choice of fragrance and fearlessness in application is one of the main reasons he was a favorite of mine.
After the break up, I tried and tried to figure out what that was he wore, because I didn't want to never smell it again! I know Acqua de Gio was one he wore. Two of them I have yet to discover, including my very favorite which drove me wild. And there was a least favorite. Every time he wore it, I had to warm up to the idea. At the time, I always wondered why he didn't just stick to my favorite or at least the other two I liked more. (I spoke more enthusiastically about them, trying to hint. You know how hints work.) I didn't understand why he wanted to wear vanilla, anyway...
But as the night rocked on, I would be snuggled up to him, thinking how sweet and yummy he smelled! He had a temper on him, and that cologne he wore seemed to bring out the sweetheart in him... or it did something to me that made ME bring out the sweetheart in him.
Fellows, Pi is that fragrance. (Just perhaps he wore Pi because he liked the way I behaved toward him when he had it on.)
I think any cologne a man can wear that has the ability to evoke that kind of emotion, and even from the memory of the scent, is well worth trying!

It's meant as an evening cologne, but because I get so many compliments anytime in the 10 years I have worn this, I even wear it during the day. Smells fantastic!!
Synthetic Root Beer.
by Jeffrey on Jul 28, 2015
I've been getting into more and more sweet scents for men and unisex and really liking them but not all of them.! I don't think I like this one. This is sweet but not in the direction I like. To me it smells like root beer on my skin and not real root beer either. More like synthetic root beer. Maybe it's the wrong time of year that I'm trying this out, as most sweet, oriental and gourmand fragrances seem to work better and smell better when it's cool or cold like during the Fall and Winter months. I'll save my sample and revisit it during the Fall and Winter months, then we'll see.
Winter Holiday Scent
by Scott on Feb 26, 2015
I have always been hesitant to try vanilla based fragrances. Having been assaulted by middle schoolers and their uber sweet vanilla perfumes for years, I have always shied away from trying. But now I am turning a page, noticing some of the more nuanced gourmand scents on ladies and gents. After many years of perfume free living, I have returned to the fragrance counter of life. I am looking for a perfume that's gender neutral or slightly feminine. I matched up samples of HM by Hanae Mori and Givenchy Pi for a comparison. Although HM is a more complex perfume and changed on my skin, Pi had that wonderful toasted vanilla or benzoin scent on my skin that was more to my liking. That one note or two notes stayed true throughout, maybe getting smokier as the day went by. I would consider buying a small bottle or large sample. Feels like a winter holiday scent.
Don't understand the acclaim
by Z on Jan 16, 2015
The opening of this fragrance smells exactly like a combination of baby wipes and baby oil; the drydown is a plain sweet scent. I'm grateful to this site for providing me a sample, saved me from a blind buy.
I guess I don't like Vanilla Scents
by Michelle on Jan 8, 2015
The opening of this is really horrible. It's so strong and I was waiting for it to dry down; I almost washed it off before it did. It's so feminine! And it's an old man/lady scent, like a lotion they would use. I'm sorry for all the people that enjoy it but it's really not for me.
by Adam on Dec 22, 2014
The vanilla scent is no overbearing but, is by far the most prominent note. I agree with someone who said it has an oriental vibe. It almost smells like an insense scent to me (I've actually used it as air freshener on the rare occassion). For me though, it completely lacks any semblance of manliness that I absolutely need in a cologne. This could easily be sold as a unisex fragrance in my opinion. I don't hate the scent but, I'm not big on any cologne that I could share with my girlfriend.
by Skilar on Nov 24, 2014
This stuff is crazy good, the vanilla in this is unbeatable. Lasts 8-10 hours with good projection on my skin.

Good smelling cologne. Ideal for daytime wear.
A Classic Gourmand Fragrance
by Sean on Aug 3, 2014
Pi by Givenchy is a very smooth and sweet smelling fragrance that best suits a man with class. I would recommend using this on dates or other special occasions. You can pull it off at work, but I would hesitate to wear it in such settings. This cologne is very reminiscent of Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male, so if you like Le Male, you will like this. This is not an acquired taste in my opinion, most people should find this to be a nice scent.
by Heather on Mar 2, 2014
This is my 2nd review, because it deserves it!!!
If you're a Vanilla-Oriental fan, you will love this fragrance! When you smell this, you feel like you've been gently and softly wrapped in a velvet, creamy vanilla comforter. There's a very light booziness to it ... and it cries out "niche", even though it's about as designer as a non-niche scent can be!
Pi is versatile - very formal and just as casual! It's truly an EXTREMELY sexy and beautiful fragrance! Try/Buy it today!!!
Sweet Vanilla Almonds!!!
by Heather on Aug 7, 2013
I bought this sample for myself, because there has been much talk that women can also wear this fragrance because of the profound vanilla staple. I do like the vanilla here, but the herbs in the opening speak 'man' to me. But hey men, if you want WOW and POW and wish to smell like a royal gent, this one is for you. I gave my sample to my brother, and he smells truly delicious in this scent. Can't get enough hugs from him while he's wearing it!
