Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent for women
by Aide on Feb 20, 2017
Absolutely seductive and enchanting scent! It smells like a very vanilla-y coffee mixed with some nice flowers, spices and warmth from the vanilla. In addition, it lasts forever and the sillage is quite nice. It's not a cheap perfume and it does not smell cheap. either.

I really wanted to like Black Opium but I just can't get over the coffee note. My skin projects this note which turns the fragrance bitter and unpleasant. I do like the bottle though!
Yummy and surprising. Lured me
by christine on Feb 17, 2017
Delicious. I am a foodie so it must be the coffee and vanilla that lured me in. It is just as wonderful as its sister scent Mon Paris. Lasts for days.

I love this! This is not the type of fragrance that I usually go for, only because I rarely find a mainstream fragrance that I really like. Yes, it is popular, and it's beautiful. The coffee notes and white florals round out a nice fruity patchouli fragrance into something really amazing. My husband loves this on me! And get this, he even takes some to wear on himself sometimes, and it's great on him, too!

This is such a unique fragrance! Sophisticatedly sweet. It makes me feel feminine yet strong, elegant but also bold. Love it!
Quite surprising, it's like this:
by Jaclyn on Dec 8, 2016
First spray I was like 'Licorice or star anise :/ too much', then after a while I was taken by how much that scent away and it settled into a lovely dark musky scent, though I totally agree that there is not nearly enough coffee!

I will be getting this one in the winter to use while working in the cafe :)!

I didn't like this one the first few times I tried it but I kept getting urges to smell it anyway. After a few tries it began smelling completely different and better each time. Now I like it a lot.

I love the name and the bottle. The perfume itself is cloyingly sweet, with as much pear as coffee. I get none of the spice from vintage Opium, and none of the incense from the modern version. Very disappointing.

Wonderful soft fragrance
by Tatyana on Jun 9, 2016
I like this combination of coffee and vanilla, it balances the sweetness. Long lasting, especially on clothes.

I love this perfume so much! It smells like high quality coffee. I'll be buying a full bottle!

I couldn't wait to go on my 15 minute break at work JUST so i could spray more of this stuff on! I am glad I got a purchased a sample from this site because now this perfume is going on my wishlist!!

Vanilla and patchouli and jasmine together are heavenly. Love this perfume! Best worn in winter.

It smells great love the scent not to over powering would buy again
Heady but sensual for daytime, do not overdo it!
by Bronwyn on May 23, 2016
I think this can be worn in daytime by the right person. It is heady but wearable as long as you do not spray it on, just apply to the pulse points. I received numerous compliments from my husband and from co-workers. It is far nicer than Opium which is also a scent that I used to wear. Very distinctive and could easily become my scent of choice.
Smells great but...
by MrsPress on May 14, 2016
This is a very nice, multi-layered fragrance. I love everything about it with one exception: It does not last long at all! When I purchase a fragrance that is as expensive as this one I expect it to last quite a while. This is almost undetectable after a couple of hours. If it lasted longer, I would easily give it 5 stars. Sillage is also not that great, but that doesn't bother me as much. I don't care as much if others around me can smell my parfume, but I want to be able to smell it myself. YSL, for the price you could improve longevity and sillage!
BETTER than the original!
by Julie on May 11, 2016
I never could stand Opium. There, I've said it out in the open. However, this version is fantastic! I normally prefer citrus and florals, but I will make an exception for this beauty. I got an immediate caramel/licorice impression that stayed with me all night long.

I love this perfume... In moderation! I've smelled it in some people and it is headache inducing... But a little bit on a night out makes me feel like I embody a beautiful woman with a hidden dark side. Full of depth and yet so girly.
by Alishia on May 6, 2016
This is so pretty. I didnt catch the pepper and not a lot of coffee but this is so interesting and refreshing. I definitely see why its so popular! Lasts forever so if you don't like it, you're stuck with it for a while
Strong and warm
by Megan on Mar 22, 2016
Black Opium is a really rich, warm scent. It's kind of sweet, but not light or flowery. The stronger coffee smell and some light vanilla are what I smell the most on me. I wear it all the time. I'm saving up to buy a full sized bottle one of these days.
Nice and popular
by Janita on Feb 21, 2016
It's a nice scent but maybe a little bit too strong for myself. I do love to smell it on other people though :D Just remember not to apply too much.
by Rebecca on Jan 12, 2016
Deep sensual scent. Slightly sweet and musky with dark undertones.
by rhapsodii on Jan 11, 2016
This is one of the most popular scents of the moment, so I guess everyone already knows how wonderful Black Opium is. Well, I was late to the party, but I've finally arrived. This intoxicating blend of jasmine, vanilla, and a hint of spices is to die for! I've already gone on to buy a full size bottle.
by Taina on Dec 26, 2015
I have only tested this. I was surprised, I don't like Opium, but this made a charming fragrance of coffee and chocolate. Who could resist that!
by Janice on Sep 11, 2015
This is a favorite of mine and men give me complimenta when I wear it.
Not Enough Coffee
by Nazia on Aug 24, 2015
This is a pleasant scent, but the coffee note doesn't really smell like the coffee I wanted. It's just slightly deep, making the rest of the fruity vanilla notes slightly more salty/nutty. It doesn't have the richness of coffee, and the rest of the notes underwhelm as well. Not as amazing and full bodied as the original Opium.
by Carrie on Mar 23, 2015
I was pleasantly surprised by this fragrance. I thought it would be an oriental type scent but it really isn't. There is a nice creamy vanilla/coffee scent to it. My only gripe is the die down. It is powdery
