Aqva Amara apparently means "bitter water," and you will have to find delight in that aspect of this to appreciate it. This is an unusual fragrance, and not necessarily the most easy-to-wear fragrance, I agree. If applied with a heavy hand, it could be quite overpowering and no longer pleasant. However, I happen to like this. It is a fragrance for the heat, as has been mentioned, and can be quite nice in that atmosphere. Try it with a lighter hand in the heat, and see if you enjoy it more. You may discover a tangy, beachy, challenging scent that is very enjoyable.
Beach in a bottle.

This is a very nice especially for the Summer. It opens with a strong mandarins peel scent but it's very bitter smelling. Makes me think of mandarin oranges being peeled and eaten on the rocks of a beach. Aquatic, citrusy, bitter and masculine. Comes alive in the heat. Excellent for the Summer.

Too clean for an aqua. Smells like dryer sheets. Not bad but not good
Not a fan

I generally love fresh citrus scents but this one is too much for me and didn't last on my skin. Definitely one to try before you buy.

Unique but not for me

Very unique fragrance. Not the typical men cologne smell.
Not for me

I can smell the aqua notes underneath but the top floral scent is too offensive IMO.
A strong orange chemical scent
by D on Jan 12, 2016
This is a simple fragrance, that will be divisive. It's a powerful orange scent, but it is a pretty artificial orange. It's kind of reminiscent of a citrus soap or cleaning solution. However, I like the scent. It also has pretty strong projection, especially for a citrus summer fragrance.
If you'll allow an incredibly obscure reference, this smells exactly like...the orange grove scent that is sprayed in the Soarin' ride at Walt Disney World and California Adventure. I have no idea what exactly it is, but that was immediately brought to mind when I smelled this. It's said that smells are strongly associated with memories....

First time I tried this I hated it, smells like rotting flowers in the top notes. Then I tried it some more and I learned to like it. This has a very unique smell to it. You need to be patient and wait for the drydown when it becomes less sharp and more spicy. women seem to like it more than men though.
oooh how it smells....

it smells good

As I say in my Bvlgari reviews: They are a hit or miss. This one is certainly a miss.

I do enjoy the freshness of this but is rather abrasive at the same time. The strong metallic notes I get just ruin the rather nice orange accord in it. Probably one of my least liked Blvgari, but I do appreciate that they experiment with all different types of scents. This one is just a miss for me.
Worst Bvlgati scent
by Robert on Sep 4, 2015
With Bvlgari you don't know what you'll get. Variety makes things less boring, and with Bvlgari their scents range from "one of my favorites" to "one of the worst colognes ever". I have to put this one as "awful". Tried it once and that was enough for me. On the other side of things, Bvgari Man in Black is excellent.

I'd rate this average. I got this sample based on my like of the other Aqva colognes from Bvlgari. I like the other ones better.
It's a good scent but it's nothing special. Definitely smell the orange part of it.
